Troop 853 embarked from Surfside United Methodist Church for it’s first ever camp-out. We had great weather and a great time. Friday night saw 2 patrols, the Eagles and the Saints prepare their first meals using their new chuck boxes provided by Church member Al Beck. On Saturday morning, Troop 853 set out on a 9 mile hike on the Palmetto Trail. It was the first hike for the boys while carrying their day packs and lunch. All of the boys made it without complaint. All 14 boys earned their Totin Chit at this campout, and quickly set upon the task of cutting up fire wood for the Troop fire.
