Troop 853 will be camping at Myrtle Beach State Park on Saturday, August 28th. We will meet at the church on Saturday morning. This is a base camp trip, boys are expected to have the scout essentials as well as any overnight gear they will need. Food and tents will be provided by the Troop.

Thursday June 17. Troop 853 will have its first Court of Honor, an important occasion for our troop at which time all scouts who have advanced will be honored. All family members of all the scouts, plus our committee members and their spouses, and our ministers are invited to attend the C.O.H ceremony in the church sanctuary at 6PM, followed by an ice cream social at the picnic shelter. Our troop will be going to Camp Coker three days later on June 20.

Great news for our young Troop 853. Mr. Wes has found us an excellent fundraiser and service project all wrapped in one! We will be reclaiming some used wood this weekend, and we will be building picnic tables for sale at the Church! This will be a great construction project for the boys and will raise a little money for the gear we need.
The wood left over will be used to build tables for the state park and to rebuild a bridge at Halfway Creek Trail Camp. This was the location of our very first camping trip and there was a bridge that was in serious need of work. Several of the boys commented that we should come back and rebuild the bridge, and now we have the wood to do it.
Exciting times!
